1123 Shapleya is a main belt asteroid orbiting the Sun. It makes a revolution around the Sun once every 3 years. The time it takes to complete one rotation is greater than 20 hours. It was discovered by Grigory Nikolaevich Neujmin on September 21, 1928.[1] It was named after Harlow Shapley, the American astronomer and director of Harvard Observatory.[2]
